Report on Serious Crimes Against Rohingya Civilians in Arakan State of Myanmar, 2022–March 2026
The Department of Public Relations and Information (DPRI) has published a comprehensive documentation report of serious crimes committed by the terrorist Arakan Army (AA) against Rohingya civilians in Buthidaung and Maungdaw Townships, Arakan State, from 2022 to March 2026.
The report documents more than 1,504 Rohingya victims and records massacres, killings, sexual violence, arbitrary detention, enforced disappearance, torture, forced displacement, and the destruction and confiscation of Rohingya-owned property.
The documentation includes individual victim records supported by eyewitness and family testimonies, photographs, videos, and other available evidence. It also documents major incidents, including the Htan Shauk Khan Massacre of 2 May 2024 and the 5–6 August 2024 attacks near the Naf River, in which large numbers of Rohingya civilians were killed while attempting to flee toward Bangladesh.
The report further documents the destruction of Rohingya villages, confiscation and occupation of civilian property, and continuing abuses affecting Rohingya communities across Buthidaung and Maungdaw Townships.
Documentation remains ongoing. DPRI will continue recording crimes and serious human rights violations committed against Rohingya civilians and incorporating additional verified victims, incidents, and evidence into future documentation.
The Department of Public Relations and Information (DPRI) of the ARSA Army calls upon the United Nations, international human rights organizations, governments, and relevant international accountability mechanisms to take serious and concrete action regarding the crimes documented in this report, as well as other crimes documented by international human rights organizations, news media outlets, and human rights activists. The terrorist Arakan Army (AA) must be held accountable for crimes against humanity and other serious violations committed against Rohingya civilians.
The terrorist Arakan Army (AA) has not only committed serious crimes against Rohingya civilians but has also committed crimes and abuses against other ethnic minorities, including the Chakma, Mro, Daingnet, and others across Arakan State of Myanmar. We urge relevant international bodies to support independent investigations, preserve evidence, protect victims and witnesses, and pursue appropriate accountability for those responsible.
